On June 28th 2009, Television presenter Sara Groen gave a nice mention of the photocurator photo mounts in the ‘Can’t Live Without’ section of the Sunday Telegraph Magazine. They can be seen in number 7 and number 3 – thanks for the mention!

Well what an adventure. Second time in Melbourne in the last month – firstly at the Melbourne Design Market in Federation Square, which was a great time (thanks for coming down to say hi!) and then back for the State of Design’s ‘Design:Made:Trade’.
There were some very talented and interesting people exhibiting at the show, many I had seen before on the NSW/Vic design market ‘circuit’ – I’m sure I’ll see them again soon. Thanks to everyone who came along and were so positive and passionate about Australian design.

One of the most common questions I got asked while showing off the photocurator was ‘Do they come in bigger sizes?’ and the answer is ‘Yes, they will’. As I said at the show, I have designed an A4 version of the photocurator which I am now getting manufacturing quotes on. It won’t be long before you will be able to print out your images at home in larger sizes and place them on your wall next to your 6×4′s!

Thanks again for coming down to DMT and the Melbourne Design Market, hopefully the next time we meet I will have the larger mounts ready for you to try out. All the Best – Huw
A nice article by Katrina Whelen at Babyology on the photocurator http://babyology.com.au/gadgets/curator-of-your-own-photos.html – Thanks Katrina and Hi to all the new visitors from Babyology!
Hi, just got back from Melbourne at the Design:Made:Trade show. I will post some pics and tell you all about it in the next few days, but for now I thought a little refresh on the blog theme might be in order! I went with a minimal look called Modern Clix by http://rodrigogalindez.com/ hope the update goes smoothly, let me know if you find anything that should/shouldn’t be there!
Well, like everyone else I have started to use Twitter, very addictive. If you are interested in following any interesting links I find or events that are happening then you can follow on @curatorcompany update: I have decided to use my @jones_huw twitter account rather than have two going at the same time. I still have the @curatorcompany address but I haven’t been updating it as regularly!
With all the offline work that has been going on recently it took me a little while to realise that my Flickr account had expired from being a pro account.
I had initially used the account as an easy way to store my favourite product shots and get feedback (thanks to all that gave feedback!!) if you are reading this then please let me know what you think of the pics!
I also used my account as a way to keep track of some of the photo wall images that people had posted (I favourited a few) there are some great shots of photo walls out there!
Anyway, with the purchase of a new camera (Nikon D90 – oooh it’s so good) I have become a little more inspired and I am keen to build up a good library of quality images. Not only do I plan to take more photos of my products as I develop them (believe me there are more on the way!) but I also want to take and share pics from some of the events/markets that I will be attending. So my stagnating Flickr profile will hopefully start to flourish with pics beyond the currently stale selection.
If you want to keep in touch with my photostream then head along to Flickr and say hello!
Along with the change of name from curator:photo to ‘photowall’ I have been working on a new logotype.
It is quite classical, not too trendy/fashionable. I thought I would go this way so as to add a sense of stability to what is already a rather unique/different product. Let me know what you think?
The Australian Photo Marketing Association is joining up with PICA (Photo Imaging Council of Australia) and DIMA (Digital Imaging Marketing Association), the PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association) and PIEA (Photo Imaging Education Association) to bring you the 2008 Imaging technology show in Brisbane.
I’m flying off tomorrow morning for a couple of days to see what the world of imaging in Australia has to offer in this changing industry. Hopefully I can take a few snaps, though I might be a little embarrassed pulling out my old digital camera (over 5 years old) – some may see it as an ‘antique’!
With so many different tasks to complete and only about 30 minutes a day to fit them in, I thought it was time to revisit a new software to manage all the tasks.
I had previously tried the free version of basecamp, which was good, but to get the most out of it you really need to subscribe – something I really can’t afford at the moment. I had also tried a few non-web based applications like omni focus, which was also very good – but lacked the ability to work through a web server etc.
I have therefore settled on ProjectPier which I have so far found very useful. Not only can I have control over my own data but it is free. Hopefully now I can push things along a little more efficiently.
